Step 1

You will first need to download the emulator. Go to https://pcsx2.net/ and download the emulator for your computer. For my tutorial I will be downloading the windows version, however the mac and linux version should not be that much different.

Step 2

Then you will have to run the .exe that you downloaded and install the emulator. Choose your destination for the install and go through all the prompts by clicking next and finally hit complete after this process is over.

Step 3

The shortcut for the emulator should be in your desktop. Go ahead and launch the emulator and you will be greeted with first time configurations. Leave everything on default and click next until you reach a bios page.

Step 4

The bios is required to use the emulator. If you have an old still working PlayStation 2 you can rip the bios from that. If not you can easily find one online although it is technically illegal. Note that the bios reader of this emulator will only read from the bios folder in your documents so make sure after you download the bios to move it over to that folder before refreshing the list and selecting your bios

Step 5

After you have downloaded and chosen the correct bios the first time configurations will be complete. You should get a screen like the above. But now you will need games in the form of an .iso file as PlayStation 2 games were on disks.

Step 6

You can find many rom hosting or iso hosting websites to download your games from. Again this is also technically illegal if you do not own a physical copy of the game yourself. The website I used here is https://coolrom.com.au/roms/ps2/

Step 7

After you have downloaded your games, you are set. Make sure you extract the folder if it is zipped. Go back to the emulator as seen in step 5 and click on the CDVD button along the top. Click iso selector and browse for the .iso game file you downloaded. Once that is done, click system and boot CDVD and you should be playing. You can also use a controller for a better experience.
